What expansion joints do
Expansion joints go into industrial piping and duct systems to absorb movement from thermal expansion, vibration, and other causes. That movement would otherwise stress pipe, flanges, pumps, and equipment. Kadant Unaflex makes its expansion joints both by hand and by precision molding. They serve oil and gas, power, chemical, and food and beverage applications.
Rubber expansion joints
Rubber expansion joints work in systems carrying fluids under pressure or vacuum at a range of temperatures. They take up movement in piping runs and protect the pipe from expansion and contraction.
Metal bellows expansion joints
Metal bellows expansion joints absorb motion in pipelines and process vessels. They're used where temperatures and pressures are higher than rubber can handle.
PTFE expansion joints
PTFE is a synthetic fluoropolymer valued for its non-stick surface and resistance to certain chemicals. Kadant Unaflex PTFE expansion joints are used where the fluid would attack conventional elastomers.
High-temperature fabric expansion joints
Fabric expansion joints are non-metallic flue-duct joints. They relieve stress in ducting by absorbing thermal expansion and shock, isolating mechanical vibration, and allowing for misalignment.
Custom-engineered flexible hose
Besides expansion joints and compensators, Kadant Unaflex makes custom-engineered flexible hose for demanding industrial service.
Industries served
Kadant Unaflex products serve petrochemical, power generation, water treatment, chemical processing, and food and beverage plants. Masski Industrial Sales works with distributors, mechanical contractors, and plant maintenance teams to collect the operating conditions and movement data the manufacturer needs to recommend a joint.
